Royal College of Art, Kensington Gore, London, was founded in 1837 as the Government School of Design. It has a faculty of more than 100 members who are professionally qualified and experts in their respective fields. The faculty members belong to a varied selection of professional artists and designers who are practicing in the field. They help to foster a thriving environment that brings out the creative best of each student. The world class curriculum ensures that the students have various job opportunities after successful graduation.
The Royal College of Art has a large student body working towards their research degrees, both full and part-time. Many international students (some sponsored by their employers) opt for the research degrees offered by the 18 departments of the institution which have their own specific research areas.
The institution also offers Post Experience Programmes to various professionals with the course duration ranging between four weeks and a year. Part and full-time programs are available that help the students upgrade their skills and learn the latest techniques in the field.
The students are offered assistance in finding accommodation. Financial assistance, and child care, counselling etc. are some of the other services that are available. The institution has an extensive library with about 70,000 books and subscribes to approximately 120 periodicals. Its colour reference library is the second largest library of its kind in the world.
