UHI Millennium Institute has the distinction of being the only higher education unit that is based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Though it was granted higher education status in 2001, the history of the institute can be traced back to 1425, when Perth was deemed a suitable site for a university. Today, the institute provides a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational programs and caters to students from the international community as well.
The courses at UHI Millennium Institute are specially designed to be regionally relevant as well as internationally relevant. In this way, students may put their skills to use either at a local level or anywhere in the world. Undergraduate courses are available for subjects such as business management, engineering, marine science and theological studies. Postgraduate programs are available in subjects including fine art, mechanical engineering and oral health science.
The institute also offers a range of Higher National courses in fields such as accounting, advertising and public relations, business and civil engineering. Students can also opt for Access and SVQ programs in subjects such as construction site management, learning and development and Occupational health and safety.
UHI Millennium Institute welcomes students from around the world and offers special programs aimed at guiding students on their options after graduation. The institute also provides a Learning Centre Unit which offers learning opportunities to the community and students alike through a network of 100 learning centers.
