College Profile
Based in Scotland, North Highland College has four campuses in Dornoch, Wick, Thurness, and Thurso. The college prides itself in offering courses, which not only meet the distinct needs of the local community, but also relies on its talent and strength. As a result, students can choose from subjects such as, equestrian studies, nuclear sciences, and veterinary nursing. The college also has the distinction of offering Scotland's first ever degree course in golf management.
North Highland College also runs a number of community based programs through various outreach centres, throughout the area. A range of short courses are also available, which cover subjects such as first aid and food hygiene. The college also offers training programs for local businesses to help employers and their workforce, work at optimum levels.
North Highland College is also an accredited Microsoft Centre and offers a range of IT courses, more planned for the near future. The college also has a library, which is available for student access and contains a vast number of resource materials, both online and in book or journal form. Since the college is also part of the UHI Millennium Institute, the college can also source material from other member colleges. The college also has a vibrant e-learning program in place, which allows students to access numerous courses via the internet and learn at their own pace. The program was recently nominated for the e-Learning Team of The Year award.
