College Profile
Lews Castle College has two campuses. The main campus is at Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. The second campus is on the Isle of Benbecula. There are several learning centres as well such as the Ness Learning Centres, Barra Learning Centre and the Northton Learning Centre. The college offers many full-time and part-time courses, some which can be studied online as well. Some of the full-time courses include the subject areas of Computing and IT, Engineering and Electronics, Art and Music, Business and Management, Hospitality and Catering, and Maritime Studies.
Part-time courses offered by Lews Castle College include Office Skills, Computing, Professional Development, Health Studies, Rural Development Studies, Safe Food Management, and Child and Youth Studies. There is a child care centre on the campus where small children of students can be taken care of. This centre also acts as a training centre for those pursuing Childcare courses. Other facilities are available such as the library where students have access to research materials, computers and study areas. Printers and photocopiers are also provided at a minimal charge.
Financial support is provided to students by way of bursaries and grants for certain eligible students. Learning support is available for students who have learning difficulties in certain areas and for students with disabilities. Student advisers are available to provide guidance and counselling, both personal and academic. There is a college intranet where students can access course materials and communicate with each other.
