Treloar College was founded in 1907 and is located in Hampshire. It is dedicated to offering comprehensive learning and growing opportunities to students with physical disabilities. The college is a recognized Beacon College and offers further education opportunities for disabled students who are over the age of sixteen. The college is residential and is also open to students from the international community.
Treloar College believes that physical disabilities should not stand in the way of a person leading a complete and fulfilling life. To this end, the college offers a number of support services and facilities to help young people to study and achieve what they aim for. This includes not only academic learning but also medical support and therapeutic assistance for all students. The college teaches and encourages students to become more independent as well.
Treloar College approaches education in a holistic manner and thus allows students with disabilities to develop completely as a human being, not as someone with a disability. Apart from academics, students can also take part in sports like swimming, basketball or table tennis. The college also has a mini-farm and students are encouraged to work in it. There are also venues for students to express themselves through drama and photography. Live bands often perform at the college and discos and karaoke nights are also arranged on campus. The college also arranges for trips into town and to events like sporting events, movies and concerts.
