College Profile

The first St Giles College was established in London in 1955 by Paul and Diana Lindsay and today it consists of a group of seven colleges around the world. The locations are- London Central, Highgate, Brighton or Eastbourne in the UK, San Francisco in the USA, Vancouver in Canada, and Sao Paulo or Campinas in Brazil. An average of ten thousand students from ninety countries learn English at St. Giles schools every year.

All courses are accredited by the appropriated validating body of their country, like the British Council and Trinity College in the United Kingdom, the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP), and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) in the United States of America.

On entering a St. Giles Centre, candidates are given a test to place them in a class most suitable to their present English skills. There are six levels of English courses offered by the institute Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, and Advanced Levels.

The college offers two types of certificates at the end of a course The St Giles Certificate of Studies for those completing a course or the St Giles Certificate in English for students who actually pass a written examination at any of the six levels.

St Giles has joined hands with Cactus to offer evening classes in foreign languages like French, German, Spanish, Polish and Mandarin at the St. Giles centres at London Central and Highgate. The course duration is ten weeks with two hours being taught per week, covering speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

St. Giles also offers four or eight week full time teachers training courses to teach the English language at some of its centres. The institute also offers facility of residence halls at some centres.
