Operating from three key areas in Ilkeston and Heanor, South East Derbyshire College has many specialist resources, which include industry standard beauty salon, motor vehicle workshops, construction workshop, sports hall, gym, multimedia learning resource centre, music and television recording centre, spacious studio, theatre and dance studio. South East Derbyshire College is the biggest provider of vocational training and academic education to the residents of Amber Valley and Erewash.
Adult Learning Centre
South East Derbyshire College is very receptive to adult learners who keep coming back to the college for learning new skills, getting promotion at work, getting a new job or for matching the skills of their progeny. Many part-time courses with flexible timings are also available for adult learners.
Mission
The main thrust of South East Derbyshire College is towards developing a working and learning community that is completely free of any form of discrimination. It strives to remove all barriers such as harassment and bullying from their path of achieving success. It provides all necessary resources so that this mission can be planned, implemented and monitored properly. The college endeavours to create an atmosphere of learning that ensures the rights and dignity of the students.
Apprenticeship Programmes
Many work based learning programmes are available at South East Derbyshire College. Young people can get training whilst they are in employment. The range of programmes is very vast covering the following areas: Construction, Engineering, Automobile service and repairs, Administration and customer service. The college acts as a bridge between the industry and the people of the area.
