College Profile

Norwich School of Art and Design is an independent higher educational institution situated in Norwich, England, founded in 1845. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and miles of sandy beaches, the school attracts both national and international students. The School has achieved the highest award of broad confidence from the 2003 Quality Assurance Agency's National Subject Review of Art and Design.

The school offers foundation degrees in Graphic and Games Art and Design, as well as a choice of five bachelorís degrees in Contemporary Textile Practices, Creative Writing, Fine Art, Graphic Design, and Visual Studies.

There is also a range of ten post-graduate degrees covering various fields of art, design and animation. The school also welcomes research proposals for a M.Phil or PhD degree in the areas of contemporary art and design practice, critical and historical studies, creative writing, curatorship, pedagogy in art and design and related areas.

For accommodation, the School has 7 fully-furnished houses, each having six bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, central heating, parking space and a garden. A hall of residence accommodating 77 students has also been recently constructed.

The Libraryís collection of around 37,000 volumes, 100 journals, over 3600 videotapes and an extensive slide collection make it the central point of learning. There are also numerous computer terminals from which students can access online resources and course material. Specialist workshops on technical processes such as printmaking, working with wood or metal and digital design are held regularly.

Every October, the school holds the Norwich International Animation Festival, which attracts a diverse crowd of students, academics, and industry professionals for screenings and special events.

Norwich School of Art and Design is a member of the British Council's Education Counselling Service. The School also subscribes to the United Kingdom Council for Overseas Student Affairs. Application forms are available online at the website or at the University and College Admissions office.
