Motherwell College was established in 1968 and is located on Dalzell drive in Motherwell. There are around 20,000 students in the college every year and around three hundred subjects are offered. Many international students come to study at the college from forty different countries. Various qualifications are offered including National Qualifications, Scottish Vocational Qualifications, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas. There are full-time as well as part-time courses. Some courses are offered in the evening and there are also some community centres in the region of Lanarkshire where some courses are taught.
Several courses are offered in a wide range of subject areas. These include Automotive Studies, Care, Engineering, Performing Arts, Health and Safety, Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing, and Hospitality. Apart from courses offered at the Motherwell College campus, other modes of learning are possible. There are community learning centres, flexible learning and e-learning opportunities. There are many funds provided for the students. About 70% of the students do not need to pay fees as they receive funds and grants from the college.
There are many services to assist the students of Motherwell College. Course tutors are available to assist with the course. Student Services staff are available for personal as well as academic counselling and additional learning support is provided to those who need it. A childcare centre is on campus to take care of children of students and there is a Learning Resource centre with library and computer access.
