Huddersfield New College is a sixth form college providing general and vocational education to 16 to 19 year old students. It was established in 1958 but became a sixth form college in the 1970ís. It is located in Huddersfield in the county of West Yorkshire. The college has over 1600 full time students studying a variety of courses in advanced level programmes as well as general vocation programmes. There are personal tutors for the students and a number of activities they can be a part of through the enhancement programme of the college.
Huddersfield New College offers courses in a wide range of subjects. These include A-Levels in Maths, Music Technology, Statistics, Graphic Art and Performance Studies. GCSE courses are offered in Spanish, Single Science, English and Maths. BTEC First Diplomas are offered in Sports Studies, Applied Science, Information Technology, Performing Arts, and Health and Social Care. Apart from these academic programmes, students can join any of the four sports academies for Menís Football, Womenís Football, Cricket and Basketball.
At Huddersfield New College, students can avail of various services such as the career resources area, student services centre and medical advice through the Open Door Service. There is financial support available through the Hardship Fund, Educational Maintenance Allowance and Childcare Support. The college also welcomes students with disabilities and learning difficulties, though it does not have specialist provision for students who have severe learning difficulties.
