College Profile
Highbury College was established more than forty years ago. It is the first college in Hampshire to have got the Action for Business Colleges Accreditation because of the excellent links the college has with employers. Highbury College has five sites situated in Paulsgrove, Cosham, Portsmouth, Leigh Park and the Craneswater Centre. The college has various courses to suit the needs of students from the age of 14 years and up. There are full-time and part-time courses, Higher Education and adult learning courses.
Highbury College has a pre-16 programme for students of ages 14 to 16 years. These courses are meant to build skills and knowledge which can help the students with their GCSE and also gives them insights into potential career options. Subjects taught in this programme include Catering, Engineering, Fashion and Horticulture. School leavers have various courses to choose from. There are the AS and A2 levels and apprenticeship programmes. Higher Education courses include Foundation Degrees and Access courses. These are meant for students above the age of 19 years. Subjects include Business, Computing, Health Care and Education.
There are several facilities in the college to help the students. There are learning centres, computer suites and a bookshop to help with their studies. There are also hair and beauty salons, restaurants, sports centre, media suite and motor vehicle workshops. The college offers services to the students like career guidance, help with accommodation, financial assistance and nurseries for their children.
