The biggest college in Glasgow is the Glasgow Metropolitan College. It is located on North Hanover Street. The college has many courses on offer, in various qualifications including National Qualifications, Intermediate Certificates, and Higher National Diplomas. Various areas of work are covered at the college. These are Art and Design, Food and Hospitality, Sport, Media, Travel and Tourism, Printing and Publishing, Business and Information Technology, and Construction. Courses can be taken full-time, part-time, in the evenings, or Saturday classes. Some of the subject areas to be covered on a full-time basis are, Design Crafts, Food Studies, Hospitality, Communication and Broadcast Media, and 3D Design.
Part-time courses include subject areas such as, Building Trades, 2D Design, ESOL and Languages, and Photography and Printing. Glasgow Metropolitan College or the Met as it is popularly known, offers several courses in evening or Saturday classes. These include Basic Guitar Skills, Gourmet Cookery, Beginners Italian, Introduction to Sports Coaching and Wood Carving. There is a Business Training Unit, where training is provided to employees of organisations and also to individuals who desire additional skills for their work place. The short courses included are Construction, Information Technology, Food Safety, Licensing and Essential English.
Glasgow Metropolitan College also offers a few short courses, funded by the European Social Fund. These are for out of work individuals, who learn new skills like Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, Wall and Floor Tiling, Basic IT Skills and Craft Skills for Women.
