Franklin College is located at Grimsby in NE Lincolnshire. It was established in 1990 and has become a major choice for students in that area. The college has courses for students of the age group 16 to 19 years. It also has courses for adult students.
The curriculum for the 16 to 19 year olds includes Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 courses. Level 1 provides the foundation and teaches basic skills. Students can enroll even with mainly E’s in their GCSE. Upon completion of this level, students can move on to Level 2 or students with at least 4 D’s in their GCSE can join this intermediate programme. Upon completion, students can either move on to Level 3 or start employment training.
The Level 3 courses at Franklin College are advanced programmes. Students with at least 5 C’s in GCSE are eligible for this level. The college offers an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) level programme where students have to study four subjects in addition to General Studies. This is completed in one year. After this, students can go on to complete their A2 level where they study a further for a year and study three subjects along with General Studies. Students can move on to universities after completing their AS and A2 levels.
Franklin College has many facilities. There is the Black Box Theatre where students can perform, a Music Suite for music classes and a language laboratory for foreign language students.
