Chelsea College of Art and Design has a history dating back to 1895 with the creation of the South-Western Polytechnic. It was one of the six inaugurating colleges of the London Institution and was named, as it is presently known as, in 1986.
Chelsea College of Art and Design offers further education programs, undergraduate and post graduate programs, research degrees, short courses, language courses as well as study abroad programs. The institution offers programs in fine arts, graphic design, interior design and textile design. Research is also conducted in the history and theory of culture, art and design. The instructors are trained professionals with many years of experience in their respective fields. Most of them are working professionals who are dedicated to teaching. The institution is housed in an ultra modern facility that is equipped with the latest teaching aids and equipment as well as the latest in technology.
Chelsea College of Art and Design conducts foundation, undergraduate and post graduate open days as well as the Three College Fine Art Open Days due to its collaboration with the Camberwell College of Arts and Wimbledon College of Art. The institution also offers a range of programs for professionals and businesses.
Chelsea College of Art and Design has an onsite shop that sells artistic materials and also has a café where drinks and snacks are available. Student services offered include childcare, chaplaincy, counselling, assistance in securing housing and financial aid. It also offers a variety of programs to the international students.
