Carmel College is based in Merseyside in the UK and offers students post 16 study courses, which consist of programmes in English, business, humanities, science, and mathematics. Foundation degree programmes are also offered at the college which is associated with the University of Liverpool. Students can choose from subjects such as medicine and dentistry, science and engineering or computer information. A diploma in art and design foundation studies is also available along with a series of evening courses.
Carmel College offers a comprehensive group tutor programme for all full time students, which consists of an Open Forum, career guidance, individual student reviews, setting targets, and a series of enrichment opportunities. The programme is flexible and monitors both the personal and academic progress of the student. Student reviews are sent to the parents periodically. The college also provides a Critical Thinking course for students who show strong academic abilities.
Carmel College's career guidance programme is linked with the Connexions programme and provides students with access to a number of career resources as well as practice interviews. Students interested in pursuing higher education courses are encouraged to attend the higher education forums as well as the higher education conference, held in the evening. Eligible students can also avail themselves of financial aid in the form of Education Maintenance Allowance and the Learner Support Fund. Enrichment activities such as sports, theatre, yoga, and music are also available within the college.
