Based in Billingham, Bede College offers students a number of courses in the fields of social science, the arts, humanities, business, health & social care and the sciences. In order to help students perform their best, a number of resource materials and support services are also offered. The college also prides itself on the number of liaison activities the college provides, thus forming strong links with the community and other schools. These include holding Open Evenings and holding preview events during the summer.
Regarding student discipline, Bede College has a set of rules which every student is expected to follow. Students are expected to maintain 100% attendance, unless there is a valid reason. Students who work are advised not to take up more than 12 hours of work per week. Failure to comply to the rules and regulations can lead to expulsion from the school.
Bede College also offers its students the use of a number of learning resources. These include a multimedia area which allows students access to iMacs, colour printers, scanners, TVs with group video facilities and a wide range of computer software. There are also 5000 books and journals for student use. Access to the e-library and virtual resource materials is open at all times. The college also provides an Education Maintenance Allowance for students who are 16 years of age. This money may be used towards covering vocational or academic expenses. Bede College also provides counselling for students looking to start on a career and for those who are planning to study further.
