Barnfield College is based in Luton, UK and operates four centers in the Luton area as well as one in the Bedford area. It has the distinction of being the very first college to be awarded a National Learning and Skills Beacon. It also has six Centers of Vocational Excellence to its name. The college offers a range of vocational training programs on a full time and part time basis. Community-oriented programs are also available.
Barnfield College currently offers 300 part time courses and 130 full time courses, which include 40 higher education programs. Students can choose from fields such as engineering, construction, business & management, art & design and learning support. Students who require extra help with skills such as reading, math or writing can avail of additional support services through their personal tutor.
There are a number of extra support services available at Barnfield College. Personal guidance counsellors are available to help students deal with any academic, financial or domestic problems they might be facing. Career education services are offered through tutorial programs to develop skills such as career management and self-development. Students are taught to recognize their talents so they may make career choices which are ambitious without being unrealistic. Students can also make appointments with career advisors or take advantage of the career resources available at the college. These resources include books and computer packages like KUDOS and Adult Directions.
